Adam, Nikki, Hilary and Dr. A with award

On Friday, May 30, Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) presented Spokane Public Schools (SPS) and the Spokane Public Facilities District (PFD) with the 2025 Impact Award for ONE Spokane Stadium.

“We’ve seen record attendance, and that’s the intent – for these to be awesome experiences for our families, and the PFD makes that happen,” said Stephanie Splater, executive director of Athletics & Activities for SPS, in a video with Matt Meyer, director of Entertainment for PFD.

SPS Superintendent Dr. Adam Swinyard accepted the award with PFD chief executive officer Stephanie Curran at the DSP’s State of Downtown breakfast.

“There is always progress in sharing understanding and listening to each other and collaborating, whether that happens one-on-one in a conversation or whether it happens in big, bold partnerships like this,” he said.

“Located in the heart of Spokane’s North Bank, the stadium hosts high school athletics, community events, and professional soccer through Spokane USL’s Velocity FC and Zephyr FC. Its central location has increased accessibility for students and families, boosted foot traffic for local businesses, and enhanced the city’s reputation as a regional hub for sports and entertainment. The project is a model of public partnership, delivering long-term value and pride to the Spokane community,” DSP shared in their announcement of the award.

SPS School Board president Nikki Otero Lockwood, SPS School Board director Hilary Kozel and SPS senior advisor Dr. Mark Anderson also attended the breakfast to celebrate the impact of ONE Spokane Stadium in our community.
