Glover artwork

"I hope the kids enjoy it. I hope that it surprises them and that they feel both like I've been thinking about them in the art, but also about the natural environment here."

- Artist Kate Jessup

Watch as artist Kate Jessup installs her incredible suspended artwork at Glover Middle School! This unique piece features hundreds of acrylic forms cut from drawings of local Spokane River flora and fauna, all suspended on 130 numbered cables in a carefully sequenced display.

Kate created this one-of-a-kind installation specifically for Glover Middle School's architecture, drawing inspiration from the natural environment around the Spokane River. The artwork aims to remind students of both their connection to nature and their individual importance.

This project is part of Spokane Public Schools' public art collection, made possible through Washington State's Art in Public Places program. When voters support school bond issues for renovations or new construction, schools qualify for state matching assistance that funds these meaningful art installations.

Spokane Public Schools has one of the largest public art collections of any school district in Washington state, thanks to community support and collaboration with the Washington State Arts Commission.
