Middle school students perform a science experiment. Text reads Classroom Windows: 7th Grade Science Lab

Step inside Caitlin Wooley’s science lab at Yasuhara Middle School as 7th grade scientists observe chemical reactions using household items like root killer, aluminum foil, and cabbage juice to engineer a flameless heater.

“My favorite part of being a science teacher is letting them choose their way,” Wooley said while students experimented, made predictions, recorded results and compared data.

Our goal is that Spokane Public School students will graduate with a lasting understanding of science, having engaged in discussions about science issues and information, so they can continue into scientific careers and studies.
