A large group of diverse students smile next to a sign for Black College Expo.

In November, 44 high school students from Lewis and Clark, Ferris, North Central, The Community School, Rogers, and Shadle Park attended the 2025 Black College Expo in Seattle.

Sponsored by the National College Resources Foundation, the traveling expo visits cities across the country to connect underserved and underrepresented students with representatives from more than 50 colleges, including Historically Black College and Universities (HBCU), as well as trade schools and career certification programs.

“Attending the Black College Expo opened my eyes to so many opportunities I didn’t know existed. It was inspiring to see so many schools celebrating Black excellence. I got to explore so many schools, meet awesome people, and seriously start picturing my future,” said Makayla, a junior from Lewis and Clark.

LC senior Morianalynn said, "The Black College Expo was not only fun, but it also gave me the chance to connect with colleges that truly support students of color. Being Pacific Islander, I don't feel like colleges look at us. After attending the BCE, I feel more confident and excited about my next steps after high school!"

School acceptances and scholarships were also offered on the spot, including to LC senior Natalie, who received acceptance and a $20,000 scholarship for Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. Congratulations, Natalie
