The Spokane Journal of Business has selected Superintendent Dr. Adam Swinyard as one of 25 honorees for the 2026 People of Influence Awards.

To be recognized among the People of Influence, candidates must be decision makers in the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene area who are working to improve quality of life in the Inland Northwest.

Dr. Swinyard’s dedication and commitment to improving access and opportunities for all students in Spokane is most evident in his leadership of the Together Spokane initiative. In collaboration with Spokane Parks and Recreation – under the leadership of Director Garrett Jones, another 2026 People of Influence honoree – Dr. Swinyard presented a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve schools, parks and neighborhoods in every corner of our city. Voter support of a $200 million school bond and $240 parks levy will enhance spaces for learning, recreation and community, with an impact on Spokane residents and visitors of all ages for years to come.

Superintendent Swinyard’s forward-looking approach to workforce development has resulted in partnerships with industry leaders in health care, manufacturing, and construction. His work to establish a full-time, 9-12 grade Trades High School in collaboration with Spokane Colleges responds not only to student interests but also ensures that students are prepared for the jobs that our community needs.

The 2026 People of Influence will be recognized during an in-person event on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at the Spokane Convention Center.

Congratulations, Dr. Swinyard!
