Extracurricular LEGO clubs are pretty popular at our elementary schools, but did you realize that each kit is sorted by hand so students have the right pieces to create their brilliant designs?
Luckily, students in STEP – Secondary Transition Employment Program – are up to the task!
Students in this program practice essential workplace skills like organization, time management, and professional behavior as they sort thousands of LEGO pieces for robotics competitions.
“Our long-term goal is to find them part-time, competitive employment,” shared Kelly Hoff, Secondary Transition Life Skills Coach, emphasizing that she loves seeing kids find a job they like.
Secondary Transition serves students with disabilities who are ages 18 to 22 by providing learning opportunities to develop vocational, functional, social, and independent living skills.
