Odyssey at Libby students wearing yellow shirts smile and jump enthusiastically as they receive a LEGO trophy.

Over the weekend at St. George’s School in north Spokane, 15 Odyssey at Libby students competed at the First LEGO League Robotics State Championships for the third year in a row!

Among the 24 other Washington schools competing, Odyssey was also the only school with two teams in the competition.

Competing in heats, students demonstrated both their engineering and coding abilities using everyone’s favorite colorful, plastic blocks from Denmark to build interactive robots.

Students also presented their Innovative Projects: a device that helps Archeologists more safely excavate artifacts, and an educational program to help educate school-aged kids about what to do when they find artifacts (“Don’t Touch it”), including a fully functional video game play-tested by 23 classes in four states!

With guidance and support from team coach Dr. Stacey Clark, Odyssey Dragons won the Champions Finalist Award, received 2nd Place overall, and secured a 4th place finish in the Robot Game. They also set a school record of 350 points. Their win qualifies them for FLL’s international competition World Festival in Houston, Texas, later this spring! Well done, Dragons!
