K-12 students from Spokane, Mead, Cheney, and Pullman school districts gathered at Yasuhara Middle School last week for Spokane Spark Day with outdoor activities for students who are blind or visually impaired organized by Vancouver-based Northwest Association for Blind Athletes.

SPS teacher of blind and visually impaired students Lonna Gately shared how special it is for students and their families from eastern Washington to gather and engage in activities like cycling, beep ball, and corn hole.

“To see this amount of people here today is super exciting!” she shared as students rode tandem bicycles and chased a red, beeping ball.

Thanks for creating this great opportunity for Spokane-area students, Northwest Association for Blind Athletes!
