Students work in a classroom after school.

Chase Middle School math teachers Joan McConnell and Sue Rees started the school’s after-school Homework Club a few years ago to help students with their math homework. They soon realized that students could use some support in non-math classes too.

“Kids have six classes, it’s a lot of work,” McConnell shared. “Some of them just need more time. And I think all the support they can get in anything after school — if it’s homework or it’s other work or it’s sports, or it’s clubs, I think that just makes them more comfortable in school.”
