Joel E. Ferris High School will host a special dedication ceremony on Wednesday, September 24 at 2:30 PM to name the school’s Track & Field facility in honor of long-time cross country and track and field coach Herman Caviness.
The event will feature remarks from members of the Caviness family, Ferris alumni, and community figures.
The dedication ceremony will run from 2:30–3:00 PM at the Ferris High School Track & Field and Football Stadium. The event will precede the Greater Spokane League cross country meet, which also serves as Senior Night for the Ferris Saxons, with a 3:30PM start.
Local media and community members are invited to attend and help celebrate the legacy of Coach Caviness, whose impact on generations of Ferris student-athletes continues through competition, mentorship, and scholarship support.
