Ferris High School Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Caitlyn Johnson as the new Head Coach of the Saxons volleyball program.
Johnson brings a strong background in player development, club volleyball, and program culture building to Ferris Athletics. She has served as the JV Head Coach at Ferris High School since 2021 while also coaching at several club volleyball programs throughout the region.
Most recently, Johnson has worked as a Head Coach with Club South Volleyball since 2024 while also serving as the Sports Administrator for the YMCA of the Inland Northwest, where she oversees league operations, program communication, and community engagement efforts. Prior to Club South, she spent multiple seasons as a Head Coach with Sideout Volleyball Club and previously coached with Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club.
In addition to her coaching experience, Johnson earned her MBA in Organizational Leadership from Eastern Washington University after completing her undergraduate degree in Graphic Design at Whitworth University.
“I’m incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity to lead the Ferris volleyball program,” Johnson said. “Ferris has already meant a lot to me throughout my coaching journey, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build a program centered around hard work, resilience, accountability, and strong team culture. I’m excited to help our student-athletes grow both on and off the court while building a connected program across all levels.”
Johnson’s coaching philosophy focuses on whole-athlete development, competitive growth, mental and physical resilience, and building a strong sense of community throughout the program. Her vision includes strengthening the culture of Ferris Volleyball while continuing to develop players and relationships from the youth and sub-varsity levels up through the varsity program.
Ferris Athletic Director Ryan Eucker said Johnson’s familiarity with the school community and long-term investment in the program made her a strong fit to lead the Saxons moving forward.
“Coach Johnson has already invested years into building relationships within our volleyball program,” Ferris Athletic Director Ryan Eucker said. “Throughout the interview and review process, she consistently received high marks from our student-athletes and families for her structure, leadership, and commitment to building a positive experience for our athletes. We’re excited about the energy, consistency, and leadership she will bring as we continue building a competitive program that reflects the values of Saxon PRIDE.”
Johnson will officially begin her new role immediately as the Saxons prepare for their summer workout program and upcoming 2026 volleyball season.
