North Central High School celebrated students who are the first student in their family to graduate high school and/or plan to continue their education with a post-secondary option.
Seniors like Leyby and Sharifu received plaques and medals, which were presented by a teacher who made an impact on their education. Both students credited Zachary Pittman as a source of inspiration.
We asked them both to reflect on the significance of the day and their hopes for the future, especially for their younger siblings.
“It means a lot. It means that my parents — what they dreamt and fought for — has finally come true,” shared Leyby.
Sharifu came to North Central as a freshman from a country in Africa, and was nervous about what the experience would be like. “People are loving here. They’re caring. They all want to be your friend,” he said.
Leyby plans to study health sciences at Whitworth University and Sharif is going to Eastern Washington University for construction management.
We are honored to celebrate these Wolfpack members and their peers as they prepare for life’s next steps.
