Garfield Families,

As we enter the final month of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on and celebrate all that our students, staff, and families have accomplished together this year.

Growth is more than academic achievement. It is the confidence students gain when they try something new, the resilience they demonstrate when faced with challenges, the friendships they build, and the responsibility they show as members of our school community.

Over the course of this year, we have seen remarkable growth in our students. They have strengthened their reading and math skills, developed positive relationships, learned to work through challenges, and continued to grow as learners and leaders. While every student’s journey looks different, each child has made meaningful progress, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.

This year, Garfield was also recognized by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for student growth. Garfield received recognition in the areas of Growth for All Students, Students in One or More Racial or Ethnic Groups, and Low-Income Students. This recognition reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the ongoing support of our families. It is a reminder of what can be accomplished when a school community works together with a shared commitment to student success.

As we finish the year, there will be many opportunities to celebrate learning and create lasting memories. From classroom activities and end-of-year events to field trips and special celebrations, June is always a busy and exciting time at Garfield.

I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to our families. Your partnership, support, and encouragement play a vital role in your child's success. Thank you for working alongside us throughout the year and for entrusting us with the opportunity to teach and care for your children.

As we look ahead to summer, I encourage students to continue reading, exploring, playing, and spending time with family and friends. Learning happens everywhere, and summer provides many opportunities for children to continue growing.

Thank you for making this a wonderful school year. It has been a privilege to work with your children and to be part of such a supportive and caring community.

Have a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer.

Sincerely,

George Gessler
