A college basketball player reads a book to elementary students in a classroom.

The Eastern Washington University Men’s Basketball team is soaring into 12 SPS elementary schools to kick off a six-week Read Like an Eagle challenge!

Players and coaches brought the energy with an assembly about college hoops, setting goals, and why reading matters. They even threw down in a slam dunk contest and popped into classrooms to share a story!

Elementary students play basketball with college student athletes.

They challenged kindergarten students to read 50 minutes every week for six weeks by Dec. 1, with a goal of 100 minutes for grades 1-5. Students who meet their goal will receive a free ticket to EWU home game this season!

Big thanks to EWU for inspiring our students to dream big and read even bigger!
