This summer, Hutton Elementary invites all students to participate in Soaring Through Summer, an opportunity that encourages Hutton Hawks to continue growing through learning, caring, and leading in meaningful ways throughout the summer months.
As students journey through summer, they will “migrate” to three special checkpoints on their Soaring Through Summer Migration Sheet:
Learning → Growing through curiosity, discovery, practice, and new experiences.
Caring → Showing kindness, responsibility, and respect toward people, living things, and the world around us.
Leading → Using your ideas and actions to help others, solve problems, and make a positive difference in our community and world.
Throughout the summer, students are encouraged to collect special moments, adventures, discoveries, and memories that show how they learned, cared, and led. Students can then choose their favorite or most meaningful moments to highlight on their migration sheet. These experiences may happen at home, outdoors, while traveling, during family activities, through creativity, or within the community.
Families are also encouraged to help students attach or bring photos, artifacts, drawings, labeled sketches, maps, stories, or other meaningful representations of their summer journey. For younger students, family members may also help scribe ideas or record memories on the migration sheet.
We encourage families to bring the completed migration sheet to Launch Conferences in August so students can share their summer journey with next year’s teacher.
At the beginning of the school year, students who complete the migration journey will also decorate a feather with their name to add to a giant set of Hutton Hawk wings displayed at school. Together, the feathers will create a powerful reminder that Hutton Hawks soar higher through learning, caring, and leading.
We hope your family enjoys making meaningful memories together this summer. We cannot wait to see where your child’s summer journey leads them!
