We’re excited to launch this year’s One Book, One School program — a Moran Prairie tradition that brings our entire school community together through the joy of reading!

🌟 What is One Book, One School?

One Book, One School is a literacy initiative designed to unite students, families, and staff around a shared story. Every family and staff member receives the same book, and we read it together across grade levels — at school, at home, and in classrooms — sparking meaningful conversations, connections, and a shared love of reading.

The program encourages family engagement, builds vocabulary and comprehension, and strengthens our community through a common story that all learners can enjoy.

📚 A Tradition of Great Stories

At Moran Prairie, we’ve proudly participated in One Book, One School for several years. Together, we’ve enjoyed classic and engaging titles like:

  • 🍋 The Lemonade Wars by Jacqueline Davies

  • 🕷️ Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White

Each story has inspired schoolwide activities, creative projects, and meaningful discussions that connect our students as readers and thinkers.

🚀 This Year’s Adventure: The Wild Robot

This year, our whole school is reading The Wild Robot by Peter Brown — an inspiring story about Roz, a robot who finds herself alone on a remote island and must learn to adapt, connect, and care for the creatures around her. Through Roz’s journey, we’ll explore themes of community, kindness, curiosity, resilience, and belonging — all values we celebrate here at Moran Prairie.

Throughout the coming weeks, families will receive reading schedules, discussion questions, and fun extension activities to enjoy at home. You’ll also see classroom projects and schoolwide events inspired by our shared story!

Our goal is to help every child see themselves as a reader, connect with others through story, and feel part of something bigger — our Moran Prairie community of lifelong learners.
