Mullan Road 5th Graders held various leadership roles here at Mullan Road.
Peacekeepers are 5th graders who were trained to be at mentor our Kindergarteners at recess. They helped organize games, problem solve and help with social skills. We were so proud to have such a great group of 5th graders this year. Our Kindergarteners looked up to you! Thank you Peacekeepers!
Kelso Kids are 5th graders who created problem solving skits using Kelso’s Choices. Kelso is a problem-solving frog who teaches students the 9 ways to solve small problems. Kelso Kids performed their skits in 1st grade and kindergarten classrooms. They used creativity while practicing their presentation skills and even concluded with singing the Kelso Chant. In spring 2024, Kelso Kids won a Spokane Chase Youth Award. Thank you again Kelso Kids!
Generation Alive is a non-profit in Spokane that teaches students about food insecurity. Our after-school club included twenty 5th graders who participated in our Action Team. These students worked with Generation Alive to perform an all-school assembly, organize a school-wide money collection, and lead our food packing day. This year, all of Mullan Road’s food kits went to the Mead food bank. Thank you for your hard work and generosity to feed others!
Morning Announcements - All year long, we had courageous 5th grade students volunteer to confidently speak before the entire school, leading the morning announcements and Pledge of Allegiance. Thank you for such a wonderful start to our day!
Safety Patrollers - Every morning, teams of 5th grade safety patrollers took on the HUGE responsibility of not only helping our students safely cross the streets to our school but also guide our Kindergarten students to and from the bus. Thank you, 5th grade safety patrollers, for assuming this invaluable responsibility and performing your jobs so well! We appreciate you all!
