High school students and Spokane Symphony musicans practice together on stage.

Student musicians from Lewis and Clark, Rogers, Shadle Park, North Central, and Ferris will join the Spokane Symphony on stage for a high-energy, family-friendly concert on Friday, February 20 at 7 p.m. at The Fox Theater.

"The idea that we can actually work next to young players and coach a little bit and help them on their journey; it's what we do. We love to give that back," said Symphony music director James Lowe.

"It's really like an honor for sure," said Lewis and Clark senior Jack Wilhelm, who plays the trombone. "We get to undertand the process of what's it's like to be a professional musician."

Rogers senior cellist is excited for the community to see and hear what she and her fellow musicians have accomplished.

"I think it'll be a good performance, and it's really cool to experience live music, whether it's a concert or something like this, where it's like classical."

Before the concert, families can explore an instrument petting zoo, hear choral performances by Peperzak Middle School and Ferris students, and enjoy displays of artwork created by SPS students.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are free and seats can be reserved online. Learn more at Symphony Side by Side.
