One stop, one day: health screenings and wildfire relief resources, open to all
SPOKANE, Wash. — Several local organizations are teaming up this Friday for a combined community event at Northeast Community Center. Coordinated Care is bringing its dental and vision vans to the site as part of its statewide summer tour, offering free screenings on a first-come, first-served basis. Alongside that, Coordinated Care, Second Harvest and Northeast Community Center are coming together for a Wildfire Relief Distribution, providing food, clothing, hygiene items, school supplies, and other resources for families and individuals affected by the recent wildfires in the Spokane area. This event is at no cost to families.
The dental and vision screenings are part of Coordinated Care's "healthcare on the road" summer tour, which is bringing Centene's dental and vision vans to cities across Washington alongside additional community resources. They are open to anyone in the community; no appointment is required. The wildfire relief resources are intended to support families and individuals impacted by the fires, though the event, as a whole, is open to everyone. Organizers say the goal is to make it as easy as possible for those affected to get essential items and services in one place, in one visit — while keeping the event welcoming to the whole community.
WHO:
As a collaborative effort, Coordinated Care of Washington, Second Harvest, Northeast Community Center, STCU, Eastern Washington University, and Tools 2 Schools (coordinated by Communities in Schools NEW) are coming together to provide food, clothing, hygiene supplies, school supplies, backpacks, and other resources for the Wildfire Relief Distribution. The event is for the broader Spokane community, with wildfire-affected families and individuals especially encouraged to attend.

WHY:
Recent wildfires have displaced families and destroyed belongings across the region. This event is intended to reduce barriers to basic needs — food, clothing, personal and school supplies — for those affected during recovery, while also making free dental and vision care available to the wider community and connecting attendees to longer-term support. Bringing multiple organizations together in one place, on one day, means families don't have to travel to several locations to get what they need.
