Shadle Park High School senior Maya Burnette is back on the court for varsity volleyball this season!
It’s a triumphant return for the Highlander who was diagnosed with leukemia last fall and received an outpouring of support from families and staff at Shadle Park, Salk Middle School, and Woodridge Elementary.
She completed her cancer treatment in May, ringing the Shadle Park bell to celebrate, and is currently in remission. We were excited to join Maya and her teammates for warm-ups before a recent game against the Central Valley High School Bears.
