As the winter season approaches, we encourage families to review our Snow Closure and Delay Information and watch a short video about how school closure or delay decisions are made.
In most cases, school closure or delay information will be communicated to families by 6 a.m. that day. If you don’t receive an email, text, or phone notification, or see an update on our website homepage or on SPS social media, school is scheduled to begin on time as usual.
Our top priority as a school district is always to safely proceed with a normal school day. For many students, school is the safest place to be during inclement weather. Schools provide a warm, supervised environment where they can learn, play, eat breakfast and lunch, and be with their classmates.
We always encourage families to consider the conditions of their neighborhood and the well-being of their students when traveling to school. Students are excused from school when parents or guardians request. If you have questions, please reach out with Let’s Talk.
