Last week, 2,934 fifth grade students from Spokane Public Schools took a field trip to the Fox Theatre to see a live performance of the Spokane Symphony.

For decades, the Symphony has invited students from across the Spokane area to attend an interactive concert that introduces them to all the different instruments of the orchestra and their unique sounds.

“Symphony Day helps connect music learning in the classroom to a professional concert experience while introducing students to the rich artistic and cultural community we have here in Spokane,” said Greg Pschirrer, SPS Visual and Performing Arts coordinator.

This year, music director James Lowe also donned our POV cam to share a conductor’s perspective when leading a symphony and taking a bow in front of an audience of thousands:

This is one of several Education Programs that the Spokane Symphony offers to nurture a passion for music for all ages. Special thanks to Symphony Day sponsor, the Hagan Foundation; Education program sponsor, Future Song Foundation; and all the generous donors who support Spokane Symphony Education programs.
