My name is Leah Lorimer, and I am excited for my first year as the school counselor at Moran Prairie Elementary! I have been a school counselor since 2015 and have worked in elementary schools in Phoenix, AZ and St. Louis, MO before moving back to Spokane. I received my master's degree in School Counseling from Gonzaga University and am thrilled to be working back in Spokane.
As a school counselor, my goal is to promote the academic, personal and social development for all students. I provide classroom lessons, meet with students in groups and individually, work together with caregivers, collaborate with staff, and consult with community organizations to meet the needs of the Moran Prairie students. I became a school counselor because I am a passionate advocate about educational equity for all students. I have focused my continuing education on cultural competency and trauma informed practices.
In addition to being a school counselor, I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, playing racquetball, drinking Diet Coke and, of course, watching Gonzaga basketball!
