Elementary art teachers spent Wednesday afternoon hanging their students’ artwork at Kress Gallery at River Park Square. All are invited to invited to celebrate the young artists at an opening reception on Friday, May 1, 2026, 5–7 p.m. The art will be on display at Kress throughout the month.
WATCH: Fifth grade Odyssey at Libby students put their Engineering Design Process skills to work building prosthetic arms. They tested if their robotic arms could pick up and place an item successfully on a table and toss a bean bag the farthest. “Creating a functional model for sustained use was a lesson in perseverance,” shared teacher Shannon Gilfeather. VIDEO: Shaw Middle School students have a few lightbulb moments – pun intended – when Avista Utilities visited to share about different careers in in the utility industry. Students learned how energy works by using hand-cranked generator to power an electric race car track and lights in the illuminating session with Avista professionals. “To come be with young people and inspire the next generation of utility leaders, it’s just something we love to do,” shared Avista’s Ariana Barrey. VIDEO: February 4 is World Read Aloud Day! We loved hearing students like Nelle at Franklin Elementary School read aloud when we asked for book recommendations earlier this year!
