Events & Fundraisers

    • PTO Meetings: A meeting held the 4th Wednesday each month, 6-7 p.m. at the school for the PTO Board Members, Finch staff and parents, and community members to collaborate and discuss current events and concerns.
    • Fall Carnival: Held during the school day, this event is pulled off without cost to the school due to the hard work of individuals on the committee obtaining donations and the partnership we have with River Ridge Hardware.
    • Turkey Bingo: This is an event that is put on in November and has a huge turn out, both community and school members participate.  We play Bingo for various prizes, mostly a lot of turkeys and pies, and also hold a raffle for gift baskets that range from $50 to $100 in value.  The goal of Turkey Bingo is to bring the community together and just break even with the expenses related to Bingo.  The gift baskets that are raffled off are filled with items donated by Finch families and the proceeds from the sales of the raffle tickets go to help families in crisis at Finch.  We need lots of volunteers to pull of this event and it has been a huge success.
    • Tree of Sharing:  We also sponsor a tree of sharing.  Kids and parents can choose an item from the tree to purchase for a Finch family that is in crisis and needs extra help during the holiday season.
    • Santa’s Meet & Greet: This event is another opportunity to gather as a Finch community and offer a breakfast and inexpensive photos with Santa.  Any money raised from the photos with Santa goes toward families in need.
    • Book Fair:  One in the fall and one in the spring.  Our book fairs give a chance for parents and kids to purchase books at a reasonable price while earning books for the school library.
    • Dine-Out Nights: Our Dine-Out nights are once a month.  This provides another night for families to get together and meet others that attend Finch.  The money raised at Dine-Out Nights goes to our Classroom Assistance Fund which is available for teachers when they want to do special projects or field trips with their class. The principal, teachers, students and families are all encouraged to participate.
    • Fund Run:  This event is held in June.  Every child is able to participate.  The event promotes fitness and is a fun way for the kids to spend one of their last days at school while raising money for the school.  Each child is challenged to raise money and there are prizes involved.  Our goal this year is to get more community and neighborhood business involvement so that the majority of the cost of the shirts and prizes are covered and the money that the kids raise can go toward the school.
    • Apparel Sales: Finch themed apparel such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, cups, etc. is sold through the PTO to promote school spirit.
    • Clip & Click Program:  Box-Tops and Labels for Education are collected in the classroom. Items are counted on Fridays and tracked on a themed board outside the multi-purpose room. Classes compete each month for a classroom prize.
    • Yearbook: Yearbooks orders are taken in the spring for end of the school year delivery. Yearbooks are sold at near cost and are used to promote school spirit.
    • Tie-Dye: A Finch tradition during the school day in June. Students can bring in any shirt and each class gets a turn to tie-dye the shirt for a fun year-end activity.
    • Skate Nights: Several evenings a year, Finch students gather at Pattison’s to roller-skate and visit with friends. This event promotes community and school spirit while providing a fun physical activity.
    • Other Events: Muffins with Ma'am's, Donuts with Dudes and a school dance are also fun activities on the calendar this year.
