The original Willard Elementary School was built in 1909, and was located at the west end of the current site, facing Wall Street on nearly 2 acres of grassy property. Willard School was named after Frances Willard (1839-1895), an educator and a leader in the cause of human rights and equal opportunities.
Willard as we know it today was completed in 1981, at a cost of approximately $2.9 million.
Two additional rooms were added in 1985, and two more were completed in 1993.
