We’re only one week into summer break, but our Health Services staff are already preparing for the first day of school to ensure that students have the necessary documentation to attend on Sept. 2, 2025.
What does that mean?
Immunizations
State law requires that all students in Spokane Public Schools provide proof of immunization or a documented certification of exemption before attending school. A Certificate of Immunization Status or a Certificate of Exemption completed by a healthcare practitioner should be turned into your school office at least 10 calendar days before the start of school. The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) offers several resources to help Access Family Immunization Information.
Check the Washington Department of Health Required Immunization Schedule to see what immunizations students may need prior to the start of the new school year, and review Immunization Information & Compliance for more information.
Please turn in forms at your school before Friday, Aug. 22, 2025.
Healthcare plans (HCPs)
Students with healthcare plans and/or medication must also be updated before Friday, Aug. 22 for the 2025-26 school year, or students could be excluded until documentation has been received and processed. Visit Health Care Provider Orders and Forms to find necessary forms.
We recommend making appointments with healthcare providers now to ensure your student has the immunizations and documentation needed to start school on Sept. 2.
