Boundary Change Message

  • Spokane Public Schools will be changing school attendance boundaries throughout the district for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. During this time, sixth graders will be moved up to middle schools and we will adjust elementary school boundaries as needed to better match school capacity. As part of this process, SPS will require all students who attend option programs/schools to reapply to attend their current school.

This means that students applying to attend an option program/school now MAY NOT be able to remain at that school after the boundary changes if the school reaches enrollment capacity.

    • For the North Side: Prior to the 2022-23 year, all option program/school students will have to reapply for acceptance at their option program/school. Displaced neighborhood students will be given the first option to stay. If the school still has available space, students who want to choice in will then be considered.
    • For the South Side: Prior to the 2023-24 school year, all option program/school students will have to reapply for acceptance at their option program/school. Displaced neighborhood students will be given the first option to stay. If the school still has available space, students who want to choice in will then be considered.

Finalized information about the boundary change process will be available to parents before the start of the 2021-22 school year.
