Hi! My name is Liz Johnson and I have been a certified school counselor & worked in SPS since 2009. I love being a school counselor, because I get to work with ALL students K – 6th ~ developing rapport with them & their families while providing support daily.
I have lived in Spokane all my life & grew up on the North Side of town (Willard, Glover & NCHS). I received my B.S. from EWU in Counseling, Educational & Developmental Psychology and then earned my M.A. in School Counseling through Gonzaga University (Go Zags!!!). I became a National Boards Certified School Counselor in 2018.
As a school counselor, I deliver a comprehensive counseling program to address the needs of our students – promoting a safe and respectful school climate. I facilitate my counseling curriculum K – 6th to help all students develop skills through academic, career, and personal/social growth. In addition to working with students in the classroom, I also work with them individually & in the small group setting. My counseling approach emphasizes helping students gain insight and work through thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that act as barriers to success – providing an instillation of hope.
When I’m not working, I LOVE being outside and spending time with my dogs! I recharge my batteries hiking, snow-shoeing, kayaking & gardening. I’ve found that my dogs also like when I garden as one of them really enjoys the ripened tomatoes & carrots!
If you would like to set up an appointment, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to getting to know & collaborate with you to provide a successful school year for all of our students!
Sincerely,
Liz Johnson
