Welcome to Adams!

  • Dear Adams Families,

Whether you are a new All-Star or a returning one, we are glad to have you as part of our Adams family. We look forward to helping each child learn and grow.

At Adams we work with parents to ensure that each child experiences academic success. Spokane Public Schools has rigorous curricula to help our children meet the Common Core State Standards at each grade level. We are implementing newly adopted ELA curriculum aligned with the science of reading including Really Great Reading and Wit and Wisdom.  We continue to use Bridges Mathematics and MyWorld Social Studies.  In recent years we have earned multiple Washington State Achievement Awards. These banners hang proudly outside our school. Our highly-trained, skilled, and dedicated staff, along with the on-going support of our families, leads to success for all students.

While we are proud of our academic achievement, we are also dedicated to nurturing the whole child. Making friends and getting along with others are as important to a child’s success and happiness as reading and math. Our “All-Star Citizenship” program teaches students positive behavior which benefits everyone. We explicitly teach and model our All-Star Citizenship traits and infuse them in all that we do each day within our school community. We implement PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). Additionally, we emphasize that hard work and a growth mindset is essential to give our Adams students the best opportunity to be successful in life.  Students participate in AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) which helps them build the organizational and study skills needed for current and future success, including the opportunity to attend a technical, two-year, or four-year college.

Adams is a small neighborhood school with a long history and strong traditions. We often refer to our Adams community as a “Snapshot of America.”  We are proud of our rich culture and value what each child and family brings to Adams. We believe in the promise of public education and recognize our responsibility to educate our children and our future. We know that when home and school work together on behalf of the child, great things happen. This is your school and we want you to feel welcome. Volunteering in classrooms, attending or helping with family events at school, and participating in our Adams PTG are some of the ways we invite you to become involved.

I am honored to serve the Adams community as principal. My door is always open. I can also be reached via email at bethn@spokaneschools.org or by phone at 354-2000. We all look forward to a great year with our Adams All-Stars. Thank you for sharing your greatest gift with us each day…the gift of your child.
