Hello Adams All-Stars! My name is Desi Bahr, and I am your new school counselor at Adams Elementary. I earned my Masters in School Counseling from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Go Bulldogs! Before transferring to Adams Elementary, I worked in Coeur d’Alene with Elementary students, and Reardan, WA with Middle and High Schoolers. I previously interned at Adams Elementary, and I am so excited to be back.
In my five years in education, I have worked hard to cultivate positive relationships with students and families. It is my joy to see our students learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Adams Elementary is a caring school that focuses on the whole child. It is our mission to educate and care for students, to provide them with the skills they need throughout their educational experience, and practice good character and citizenship.
My role as the school counselor is to advocate for students and families, as well as support our fantastic staff here at Adams. As your student’s school counselor, I will advocate and work with you and your child’s teacher to support your student’s best interests, mental health, and socioemotional development. I wear a variety of hats and believe being present and accessible to all students is crucial to my job. Your students will see me providing support in social/emotional, academic, and career development through individual student planning, small group work, classroom guidance lessons, and responsive services. I believe having a strong partnership with our parents and community is crucial for our children’s well-being.
