Our School

  • Logan Elementary was established in 1889.  Two teachers and Principal Eleanor B. Day opened the school.  A more permanent brick structure was built in 1892 with additions built as needed.  In 1937 fire severely damaged the school and rebuilding followed.   The people of Spokane were to be congratulated on such a beautiful building. The school ranked as one of the largest buildings in Spokane with one and one-half blocks for the school and playfield.

Logan was named after General John L. Logan, credited for naming May 30, 1868 as the first Memorial Day.

  • Construction on the new school began with a ground breaking ceremony on February 18, 1993.  It was designed to provide learning opportunities for  600 students and it was ready for occupancy in the Spring of 1994. The entry wall of the new school is faced with bricks from the old building and the new playground was the original sight of the old school.
