The original Regal School building was built in 1907 in the township of Hillyard, Washington. The original school was called Hillyard High. From 1907 to 1913, this building housed the district office, the high school, and the grade school. In 1924, Hillyard was annexed to the city of Spokane and the school became a part of Spokane District 81. In 1982, Regal moved into its new school building, retaining the Cupola from the old school on the old school site.
