About Mr. Flaherty

  • Hello, I am Sean Flaherty.

I was born and grew up in a small town; Havre, Montana until we moved to Spokane to start the 6th Grade at Adams Elementary. I then went on to Chase Middle School and then graduated from Ferris High School. For college, I attended Spokane Community College, Eastern Washington, and Whitworth Universities for my bachelor's degree and endorsements in Soc/Stds and English. Then received my masters from Western Governors University. I have taught at North Central, Mt. Spokane, Ferris, Lewis & Clark, and SVL. After those 9 years year in the classroom, I worked for 2 as the Achievement Gap Intervention Specialist at Salk Middle School working with high-risk and students of trauma. During my administrative internship, I worked at Browne Elementary and loved it so much I didn't want to leave. For the last 3 years I have been the Principal Assistant at Roosevelt Elementary making amazing memories serving that community.  During those years I coached Tennis(State Champs Boys  2015, Girls 2016), Basketball, Speech & Debate(3 straight years GSL champs 2nd in State), Volleyball, Flag Football and my daughters 4th grade basketball team(didn’t win a game but had an amazing time & grew). I have always wanted to be a teacher since the 1st grade since getting the thrill of helping other students learn. I get to work my dream job!

I am most proud of my family. My wife Cassie inspires me with her creativity and is an amazing Kindergarten teacher. My daughter Reagan who is 11 loves gymnastics and tell wild stories, while my eight-year-old son Ryan loves soccer, Minecraft, and being stubborn. Our puppy Gryffin is 3 this summer and is still training us. My favorite holiday of the year is Hoopfest; ask to see one of my championship brackets. An interesting fact about me is I am a wedding DJ, and I take my MixTape making very seriously.

I am so excited about this coming year and getting to know each one of your families.
