US History Basic Overview:
Units covered
US history will be taught chronologically and thematically with the following units:
UNIT 1: Industrialization, Reform, and the Emergence of the United States as a World Power (1877-1914)
UNIT 2: World War I, Prosperity, Depression, New Deal, Neutrality to WWII (1914-1941)
UNIT 3: World War II, Cold War & Civil Rights (1941-1968)
UNIT 4: Kennedy, LBJ, Vietnam, to Modern America (1960-Today)
UNIT 5: Women’s Rights (1950s-Today)
What students should have in class each day:
- Functional Pen/Pencil
- Highlighter
- 70 page (minimum) Spiral Notebook [used solely in this class each semester]
- Loose Leaf Paper
Successful Steps to maximize learning in this class:
- Take high-level, functional notes (this is not a memorization class).
- Be in class daily. If you miss, make it a priority to catch up (consider using TEAMS or Remind to get what you need to catch up early)
- Turn work in on time.
- Take advantage of opportunities to learn from mistake and resubmit major tasks/assessments.
- Ask questions
- Make LEARNING A PRIORITY.
