Deaf/Hard of Hearing Services

Deaf/Hard of Hearing Services: Deaf Education programs (DE) provide a focused instructional/intervention model based on the specific needs of Deaf/HH learners to close the academic performance gap between the student’s level of language/academic performance and the district standards. The DE Program teaches strategies for in- depth language development, social/emotional development unique to Deaf/HH students, and self- advocacy skills to students in a culturally responsive manner. Students enrolled in DE Programs have a documented hearing loss or Deafness and a delay in academic performance. In addition, they focus on social emotional learning, cultural support and language supports in the student's preferred mode of communication. SPS also contracts with surrounding school districts to access our program.
