- Sample Question for Theme/Element #1: How can low-income students acquire Internet access at home?
- Search Terms: low-income, students, Internet access
3. TIPS FOR BETTER SEARCHES.
- Search terms should be nouns.
- Place quotations marks around phrases when you want the words searched in the exact order.
- Change search phrases by using synonyms. Example: low-income and poverty.
4. SEARCH FOR SOURCES ON YOUR THEME/ELEMENT.
5. SKIM AND SCAN SOURCES.
Use these reading strategies to find answers to your research questions.SCAN:- Press CTRL+F and a search window will appear. Type your phrase in the search window and click on the down arrow. Your search terms will be highlighted throughout the website.
- In print and non-print resources, read the special text features such as bold test, headings and sub-headings. They indicate large and important sections of information.
- Terms or phrases that appear in more than one source indicate that an idea is important.
- Read the first and last paragraph of an article.
- Read the first sentence of each supporting paragraph.
6. HIGHLIGHT AND ANNOTATE THE SOURCES.
7. ORGANIZE PHOTOCOPIES AND PRINTS FROM SOURCES.

11. WRITE A MLA CITATION FOR EACH SOURCE AND IMAGE. PASTE INTO THE ORGANIZER FOR NOTES.
